The unforgiven sin

Dusty, mudfilled footpaths. tiny green blades of grass

ran along two little children, along with a handful of schoolbooks, right after class

beads of sweat rolling down their faces. not a soul there to stop them

their ultimate goal was to swing in the swingset. two peaceful souls in a world of mayhem

satisfying themselves, they turned towards each other to talk of the world

tittle tattle and little tales they carried home. smilelines, in strange satisfaction, curled

The cheeky grins on their faces after pranking each other. neither knew what it meant

spoke of the great things they yearned to achieve, and letters to each other that would be sent

one day, they followed their daily routine of swinging in the community play ground, only with a twist

Their talks were filled with anger and hatred towards each other, verbally vicious, only a gist

Over the years, time changed, time moved on, it didnt wait, so did they

Hearts filled with a sense of guilt, unsent letters in their saché

They knew they couldnt reach out to the other, anxious of what the other would feel

no amount of words could explain this emotion. they choked in every meal.

time taught them that their are various ships. a thousand leaves in a tree

but out of them, the greenest one’s were friendship, and they will always be

And all of sudden, at a crowded road, what seemed complete black magic , one saw a familiar face

the time travel was breathtaking, two souls, mentally shattered, yet grown in grace

time was too fast and slow at the same time. their world was at a literal stop.

they walked towards each other, overcome with a thousand unexplainable emotions, they felt a drop.

They looked at each other, and at once realised, this was the unforgiven sin

And then things changed, they became the best friends they’d ever been
